Congratulations to Hyun-ju Kim, PhD 2012. Hyun-ju has accepted a position as the new ESL Program Coordinator at the SUNY-Korea campus in Song-do, Korea. She is currently meeting with administration officials to plan and implement the program. The ESL program is expected to grow in size over the next few semesters as enrollments at SUNY-Korea increase.

The Department of Linguistics at Stony Brook University is a leading center for research and training in all areas of modern linguistics.
The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in theoretical linguistics and in TESOL. Research areas represented in the department include phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and first and second language acquisition as well as experimental approaches to these areas.
Faculty expertise includes a wide range of languages/language areas such as Austronesian, East Asian, Romance, Semitic, Slavic and signed languages. The intellectual life of the department is diverse and dynamic and is enriched by active interdisciplinary research projects with faculty from other departments.
