Lori Repetti studies the history and phonology of the Romance languages, in particular Italian and other Romance varieties spoken in Italy. She is primarily interested in metrical and syllable structure and the interaction of these structures with other areas of grammar. Her recent research has addressed the metrical structure of northern Italian dialects, the adaptation of foreign words to the syllable structure of Italian, and the phonology-morphology and phonology-syntax interfaces of Romance nouns and pronouns. She has conducted field research in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, and is completing work on a book, The Prosodic Structures of the Northern Italian Dialects. She also regularly teaches for the Department of European Languages, Literatures, and Culture.
