Notes about parking

West Campus Admin. Garage near Main Entrance is free Friday if people stay til after 6 pm, otherwise $7.50 a day. This lot is sometimes full on Fridays, so to try to arrive before about 9 am. The other lots are metered parking. South P-Lot (in South Campus) has bus service onto Main Campus. See the PDF map above for the precise location of each lot.

Transportation from Local Hotels

Local hotels are not within walking distance of campus. Shuttles from the Holiday Inn are available. We will provide van service on a particular schedule for other hotels in Port Jefferson and Stony Brook. (This is not an individual service.) Or, check out the FASL ride sharing bulletin board.

Ground Transportation between LGA and JFK

This will allow you to take the AirTrain (which leaves only from JFK) to the LIRR.

Driving Directions from JFK International Airport to Stony Brook

1. Go toward the Airport Exit, stay straight to go onto JFK Expressway.
2. Keep left at the fork in the ramp and merge onto Belt Pkwy. E, keep LEFT and take exit 25A toward Eastern L.I.
3. Belt Pkwy E. becomes Southern State Pkwy E.  Stay on the Southern State Pkwy to exit 41A.
4. Take the Sagtikos Pkwy N exit, exit 41A (exit on left) toward Sunken Meadow Park.
5. Take exit SM1 E to merge onto Northern State Parkway toward Eastern L.I.
6. Stay on Northern State Pkwy until the end where The Northern State Pkwy will merge into Rt–347 East.
7. Stay to the left onto NY -347 E. to Nicolls Road/CR-97, turn LEFT onto CR-97.
8. The Main Entrance to the University is the 2nd University entrance on the left (the 3rd traffic light).
9. From there follow directions on campus map to conference site.

Driving Directions from La Guardia Airport to Stony Brook

1. Start out going Northeast on LaGuardia Rd.
2. Turn slightly left toward TERMINAL A/MARINE AIR TERMINAL/RENTAL CAR RETURNS.
3. Turn slightly left onto Central Terminal Drive
4. Take the Airport Exit ramp and stay straight to go onto 94TH ST. 
5. Merge onto the Grand Central Pkwy E toward Eastern L.I.
6. Take the LONG IS EXPWY/ I-495 exit- EXIT 10W-E- toward MANHATTAN/EASTERN LONG IS.
7. Stay to the left and follow signs to Eastern Long Island/Riverhead.
8. Merge left onto I-495 E / LONG ISLAND EXPY.
9. Take exit 42 Northern Pkway toward Hauppauge
10. Stay on Northern State Pkwy until the end where The Northern State Pkwy will merge into Rt–347 East.
11. Stay to the left onto NY -347 E. to Nicolls Road/CR-97, turn LEFT onto CR-97.
12. The Main Entrance to the University is the 2nd University entrance on the left (the 3rd traffic light).
13. From there follow directions on campus map to conference site.

Driving Directions from Macarthur-Islip Airport to Stony Brook

Exit the airport and turn left onto Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 454). Merge onto Sunrise Highway (Route 27) and take the second exit onto Nicolls Road. Drive north for 12 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the left.
